Biography of Walter A. “Tony” Grady Jr.

Candidate for Nevada Lt. Governor


Tony Grady was born December 5, 1955, in Norfolk, Virginia, USA.  He graduated from the International School of Bangkok, Thailand in 1973.  After graduation he was appointed to the United States Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colorado, graduating in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Astronautical Engineering. At graduation he was distinguished as, “The Cadet Who Best Exemplifies The Highest Ideals of Loyalty, Integrity and Courage,” in the Class of 1977.  He holds a Master of Science degree in Systems Management from the University of Southern California, and a Master of Airpower Art and Science from the Air University, Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama.  He is a graduate of the Defense Systems Management College, designating him qualified to manage any major Defense Acquistion Program.  It also lead to his certification as Project Management Professional.  Tony is also a graduate of The United States Air Force Test Pilot School, located at Edwards Air Force Base, California, USA.


Commissioned through the United States Air Force Academy, Tony attended pilot training at Williams Air Force Base, Arizona, in June 1977.  He served as Air Force pilot for twenty years culminating with commanding the B-2 Stealth Bomber test squadron.  Tony Grady is an experienced test pilot with over 5,000 flying hours, in 40 different aircraft.


After the Air Force, Tony flew for FedEx for the next twenty years.  He retired as a MD-11 Captain.


Tony served for two years as the Director for Flight Operations for the National Championship Air Races, held in Reno, Nevada, USA.


Tony and his wife of thirty-eight years have four children and they live in Reno, Nevada.
